It was a triumphant group of Leafs that detrained from Montréal this morning. After a light breakfast they all went up to Benny Stockley’s, and shortly after 10 o’clock were riding the Smytheian hobby horses, with Benny giving them the paternal once-over through sleep-laden eyes.

Coach Irvin was in a jubilant mood. “Look at the penalties,” he chortled, “we’re flying again. When you see us taking penalties, you see us in form. Skipper Horner was going like the Trojan horse, too.”

“And Mr. Hart said we were a terrible club, did he? Well I guess he was right, but in reverse to what he meant to convey. We were certainly terribly hard on his playoff chances last night.”

In Montréal, the Leafs made it a parade to Cude before the Canadiens got their sea legs. Drillon scored twice, followed by Sylvanus Apps, Harvey Jackson, Buzz Boll and Bob Davidson, before the Canadiens retaliated with a goal by the venerable Pit Lépine.

He was followed by Toe Blake and Don Willson, and the game ended 6-3 for the Leafs.

Bob Davidson was happy, as his goals are almost as rare as a perfectly refereed game. Don Willson notched his first professional goal last night.

Red Horner, playing with his head in bandages and taped, got three assists, and was a roaring terror on defence all evening.
