The Canadiens, last year’s National Hockey League champions, will likely finish the present race in possession of the cellar berth. At the Arena Gardens last night, the St. Patricks defeated the Frenchmen by 5 to 3, and thus strengthened their hold on fifth place.

The Montréal Canadiens defeated the Toronto St. Patricks by 6 to 3 in a scheduled contest of the National Hockey League here tonight. The game was featured by a scoring bee in the third period, when the Canadiens scored four goals, while the St. Patricks responded with two. The Canadiens registered twice and the St. Patricks once in the first frame, while the second went goalless.
